Poverty is ugly to the natural eye, and it's no less grievous to the inner eye of the heart that sees its crippling effects on the human soul. Lives spent with no hope of a better tomorrow causes God-given skills, talents, and ambitions to be squandered. The end result is the ugliness of a wasted life and a seemingly hopeless existence. Dominican Advance's microbusiness empowerment program provides training and venture capital to qualified candidates to prosper them in a small business of their choosing. We believe God's will is that people prosper and that they give to Him the glory with a thankful heart. Candidates for the program are recommended to us by local pastors. Each fills out an application and provides us with a 2" X 2" snapshot. The candidates are then interviewed as to their needs, potential, and personal projections for their business. A panel of five board members then carefully considers each application and a determination is made as to the costs involved in setting up the new businesses. Those who are approved for the program then required to attend a six week training course designed to teach them a Biblical approach to business and money management. Transportation to and from the training site is provided. After completing the course, all candidates are given a certificate of completion containing their business mission statement, plus the tools, merchandice, equipment and/or other materials they need to begin their new venture. Two follow up meetings are included in the program - the first six weeks later, and a second three months after completion of the training. Dominican Advance does not give out cash or agree to meet any financial obligation that the candidates may incur. We do however continually encourage and teach principles of faith and strong dependence upon God. Anyone can contribute to the program to sponsor a Dominican man or woman in business. Standard contributions to the program range from $300 to $600 according to the need of each small business venture. Each contribution goes to cover cost of setting up the business, training & transporation to the training site, certification, and extra money to further the ministry of Dominican Advance.
