| With
many in the world suffering the effects of corporate, governmental,
and personal corruption, deception, and greed, I thought it good
to put together a ministerial code of values for Dominican Advance.
Many Christian show interest in statements of faith which are
relatively easy to compile and say little about the ethics of
the ministry. In contrast, a code of values binds a business,
corporation or ministry to certain standards of conduct.
Students
of the Bible will recognize that our code is adapted from the
10 Commandments as per Exodus 20. We take these values seriously
and for that reason have posted them on our Web site.
1)
We're committed to knowing, loving, and glorifying God in all
that we do. Our ultimate aim is not the benefit of those
we minister to but to see God glorified through the benefit we
and our supporters provide.
2)
We're committed to preventing our ministry, its successes, practices,
methology or leadership from becoming idols. Often
a ministry begins with their eyes on God and finishes with their
eyes on themselves. I mean that literally because once you become
the focus of your own praise and admiration you're no longer serving
Him but your own interests.
3)
We're committed to keeping the Lord's Name and reputation free
from personal ambition. We want Dominican Advance to
remember that it exists for His blessing. The rightful blessing
that we receive as His servants is secondary to His purposes.
4)
We're committed to scheduling adequate time for rest, family,
and exercise. We are dedicated servants, but we are not
a workaholic ministy that treats work as the only activity of
value in human behavior.
5)
We're committed to honoring others above ourselves. We
strive to give honor where honor is due not looking for the honor
of men in return.
6)
We're committed to ministering in a spirit of love. We
put conscious and serious effort to the task of eschewing the
prevailing climate of anger, revenge, irreverence, and arrogance
in today's world.
7)
We're committed to preserving the purity of our lives, marriages,
and testimony of our ministry.
8)
We're committed to ministering in integrity.
9)
We're committed to to speaking well of others and refraining from
comments that discredit, dishonor, or criticize.
10)
We are committed to esteeming God’s blessing on others and
avoiding exclusivity and rivalry. To
compete against others is to become a contrary force in God's
kingdom. He reserves the right to bless whomever and to move through
whomever He chooses and all should honor and support those He
chooses.
